Waitangi is an important surviving yacht from the Logan period of New Zealand yacht design and construction.
Her rig places substantial and changing loads through the mast and supporting structure.
Spar work therefore affects strength, weight, alignment and sailing performance.
Mast repair
Traditional spar work requires suitable timber, accurate assessment, long sightlines and controlled shaping.
The 2005 project repaired the mast while retaining the dimensions and characteristics required by Waitangi’s established rig.
