Design and construction
Chiloe belongs to a generation of New Zealand yachts built around relatively light, strong timber construction.
Her project at Brookes Boatbuilders centred on renewing the deck while retaining a consistent relationship with the existing hull, structure and proportions.
Deck replacement
Replacing a wooden-yacht deck involves the supporting structure, beams, margins, openings, fastening pattern, water management and finish.
Each part must accommodate load and movement while remaining visually consistent with the boat beneath it.
