Design period and use

Turakina comes from the post-war generation of New Zealand wooden yachts expected to be sailed, maintained and adapted over long periods of ownership. By 2011, the accumulated condition of the hull required assessment and repair.
Refit scope
Turakina hull stripped

The refit progressed from inspection and opening-up to structural intervention.

This allowed the condition of the hull to determine the final scope.

The objective was renewed structural reliability rather than change for its own sake.
